The Crystal Theatre needs your support to keep its projector shining bright. It’s more than just a place to watch films, it’s where stories come alive and the community comes together. For nearly 40 years, under the care of Bob and Kathy Ezra, it has become a beloved local treasure.

Now, as the Ezras prepare to retire, the theater faces a turning point. The Crystal Theatre Alliance, a newly formed local nonprofit, is stepping up to preserve the theater’s legacy and evolve it into a self-sustaining, community-driven, multi-purpose venue.

It will still be the same great movie theater, it will just offer more.

The initiative expands the theater’s offerings to include live performances, youth programs, and civic gatherings, all while keeping the name and identity of the Crystal Theatre intact.  With community support, the Crystal will become a hub for cultural and civic life.

Essential upgrades are vital to keep the doors open for the long term. New uses build a more sustainable future for the theater, with diverse programming and revenue streams that will help the Crystal thrive well into the future.

CTA is raising $500,000 to purchase the business and commit to a long lease, upgrade the space, and launch expanded programming, including youth apprenticeships, mental health talks for parents, speaker series, workshops, partnerships with schools and other organizations, bilingual programming, and more great movies! We will redevelop with a focus on inclusion, offering meaningful access and engagement for all communities, including the Latino community, older adults, and existing patrons. $250,000 has already been raised, and we have $250,000 to go.

Every donation is meaningful and has a tangible impact. As a community, we can do this!
