The Crystal's Next Chapter

The Crystal has stood on Main Street since 1949. After closing in the 1960s, it was brought back to life by Bob and Kathy Ezra in the early 1980s. For 40 years, they kept it independent, resilient, and deeply connected to the people it served.

Over the past year, the Crystal Theatre Alliance welcomed more than 10,500 unique visits across 185 first-run screenings, 40 repertory screenings, 73 film and live events, and 49 free public events. We collaborated with 33 organizations, and benefited from more than 3,000 volunteer hours.

This extraordinary response shows both how deeply The Crystal matters and how much more it can offer. But shifting viewing habits, rising costs, and continued uncertainty in the film industry continue to be challenging factors.

Significant upgrades are needed to keep the doors open, meet growing demand, and expand what is possible within this small but versatile space. These improvements will support high-quality film, live performances, youth programs, civic gatherings, and opportunities for people to build production and technical skills, while preserving the character and intimacy that make The Crystal unlike anywhere else in the valley.

The Crystal will remain the movie theater you love, only stronger, more sustainable, and more vibrant.
